His fashion spreads often featured riffs on art. His last homage to painting, for example, was a spread in Vanity Fair last winter: he coiffed and powdered the models he was photographing until they all looked as if they had walked right out of a John Singer Sargent painting.

"What I'm most interested in is evoking the spirit of a painting through the fold of fabric, the position of a hand, the quality of light on skin."

David Seidner! Gone (sadly) but not forgotten. I think the pictures he did of Anh Duong are among the most beautiful fashion portraits ever made.
Hi Paul, thanks for commenting on my blog, so that I may find yours.
Bernadette Jurkowki is ethereal.
You have such a fantastic blog!!!
Simply breathtaking. I will be back...your blog is wonderful!
What a beautiful and fascinating post! I did a post on Sargent's home in London last year. He is one of my favorite artists, and it is interesting to see Seidner's interpretation.

Found you via hidden in france. She has superb taste. Wonderful post!
I worked with David back in the '80s in Paris. He was a true artist. Sadly, I didn't even realize he had died. It brings back to me all the people I knew in the fashion industry that are long since passed. It's unfortunate that all these years later so many still suffer with this disease.
This is really beautiful. I need to look up more of his work.
gorgeous. thanks so much for sharing.
OMG. So beautiful. This made my day.
They are truly classics. There is a retrospective planned at Fundacion Pierre Berge Yves Saint Laurent Paris for October of this year. He is another American whose talent is more recognized abroad than here at home.
