1979 / Billy Corgan / Dayton and Faris
Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time / On a live wire right up off the street / You and I should meet / Junebug skipping like a stone / With the headlights pointed at the dawn / We were sure we'd never see an end to it all / And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues / And we don't know / Just where our bones will rest / To dust I guess / Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below / Double cross the vacant and the bored / They're not sure just what we have in store / Morphine city slipping dues down to see / That we don't even care as restless as we are / We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts / And poured cement, lamented and assured / To the lights and towns below / Faster than the speed of sound / Faster than we thought we'd go, beneath the sound of hope / Justine never knew the rules, / Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls / No apologies ever need be made, I know you better than you fake it / To see that we don't even care to shake these zipper blues / And we don't know just where our bones will rest / To dust I guess / Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below / The street heats the urgency of now / As you can see there's no one around

It's official. We're fucking old!
And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues
Double cross the vacant and the bored ; )
This used to be my fav video back in the middle 90's. I was fourteen and thought that life is gonna be so great. Here Iam, thinking the opposite hahaha
Hey Aretha...I know exactly what you mean : ) !!!
This was and is such a great song... love it.
Great video. Especially interesting in relationship to the previous post on McGinley!
Great song, and pretty sunny too! Still raining in NY? (we're having pretty bad weather here too)
I loved your post on Murakami.
Hey Paul, first, thanks so much for commenting on my photos. I really appreciate it. It's nice to know some other people are seeing them so thanks. Your comments made my day.
Second, this video always reminded me of the movie Over the Edge. I think it was the first movie for Matt Dillon. It's about a bunch of bored kids getting into trouble and it was made in the late 70s- the school is a great example of 70s architecture. Great movie. Great song. Great video. Great blog. Thanks again.
And oh yeah, Beagles RULE!
i just loved the way i felt car sick watching this.
plus bald aging alterna-rockers are hot. hello, moby and michael stipe!
ps anyone remember the first episode of My-So Called Life where Angela mentions she's a Pumpkins fan?
one of my favorite moments in that show. and that catchy little ditty "and dance by the light of the moon."
this song IS highschool.
