A dream by one of Kathy’s friends became the inspiration for a New Yorker cover. A man in a snow shaker is sunbathing on the beach, the snow is outside, not inside the globe – an image in which quirky dreams and reality are mixed so that the borders between fantasy and reality become blurred. Then illustration mirrors life: Kathy offers to give her friend half the money earned for the cover and a gift, the friend tears the check in half and drops the gift by mistake, a snow globe which shatters to the ground.

I love the expressions and the colours in this work. I am especially moved by the expression on the face of the woman in the center.

I think the title is so brilliant!

This image vaguely calls to mind Atwood's Handmaid's Tale . . . or perhaps "Attack of the Killer Mary Kay Representatives."
